Cuba's digital transformation in tourism and the novelties for the high summer season were highlighted today by the Cuban delegation at the second edition of the Travel Blast! 2021 Virtual Fair, held in Argentina.

At the event, attended by exhibitors from Latin America, Canada and Europe, the Cuban representation is headed by its advisor of the Tourism Office for the Southern Cone, Janet Ayala, and the director of Technologies and System of the Ministry of Tourism, Pavel Pavón, reports Prensa Latina.

According to Ayala, the Caribbean nation's participation in Travel Blast! had an important moment during the dialogue between several travel agencies and tour operators, to whom the destination's novelties and the progress of the five vaccine candidates, two of them in an advanced stage of development (Soberana 02 and Abdala), were presented. The Cuban presence was very positive not only because of the exchanges with tour operators and airlines that market the destination, but also because of the novelties, he said.

"In addition, the participants learned first-hand details about the sanitary protocols applied by the island and the promotions at the gates of a summer for which a certain recovery is expected," the official said.

Among the new initiatives, she mentioned the reactivation of the Cubana de Aviación flag carrier flight from Argentina, starting May 31 and with a fortnightly frequency, information that was very well received by those present. Likewise, the public was very interested in how to travel to the island and the possibility of having access to the vaccines produced by that country, he added.

During the day, which began the day before and will conclude on Wednesday, discussions were held among tour operators and groups such as Barceló, Sudameria, Iberostar, Meliá and Be The World.

More than 500 people followed the professional day of the island in the various conferences, with special interest in the offers of Varadero, the main destination for sun and beach tourism in Cuba.

Travel Blast!, which is open to the public free of charge, was attended virtually by more than 50 exhibitors.
