Modern rooms that will expand the accommodation capacity of the well-known Louvre Hotel, in the Historic Center of Matanzas, are in the completion phase and must be ready for tourist operations late November.
Niurka Benavides, investment specialist of the company belonging to the Tourism Real Estate Agency, told the Cuban News Agency that they are currently working on the testing and commissioning of the systems.
The new 26 rooms, with capacity for about 60 guests, have a more contemporary style than the 15 in service since the reopening of the original section of the hotel in 2019, Benavides said.
The Louvre, operated by the Cubanacan Chain, is, together with the nearby Velasco hotel, part of a complex with an excellent location around the La Libertad Park, which encourages tourism interested in knowing the essences of Matanzas, first modern city in Cuba.
Benavides added that soon they are also making changes on the infrastructure of Del Medio Street in order to improve safety of passersby, and the patrimonial facade of the Club 66 will be visible, respecting the historical values of that property which served as conspiracy place of the July 26 Movement (M-26-7).
The extension of the hotel founded in the 19th century includes, in the stage that is ending, an ice cream parlor, multipurpose room, bar and shop; and it will continue in a second stage that will add nine rooms and new services such as a hairdressing salon and relaxation spa.
