Rightly considered a paradise pole, Cayo Largo del Sur has returned with new vigor to the portfolio of offers of the Cuban tourist industry.

During the months of November and December it received national tourists, in a favorable unprecedented experience; and it is already awaiting for its regular visitors from the Italian and Canadian markets in January.

Located at the eastern end of the Canarreos archipelago, in the southern waters of the western province of Matanzas, this overseas territory administratively belongs to the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud and its hotels are ready to provide services, René Soto, executive of the Gran Caribe (GC) group in that destination, told the press.

He pointed out that the first thing is the safety of vacationers, based on complying with all health protocols to avoid contagion or spread of Covid-19.

GC manages four accommodations there with about 1,500 rooms with expectations in the upswing stage in its promotion and acceptance.

Since last March, when there was a halt in the sector's activity due to Covid-19, we devoted to maintenance actions, improving quality standards, continuing the investment process, and that is how we have been preparing ourselves and we are already open to international tourism, Soto added.

The local Vilo Acuña international airport also improved its comfort and both the airport and the so-called smoke-free industry, from the new stage, earned the corresponding certification and have the appropriate bio-security measures for a more hygienic and healthy tourism.
