Festivals and Traditions in Camagüey


Among the customs and traditions of Camagüey, Cuba is the San Juan Camagüeyano, which has transcended as the most popular traditional holiday of the region since the 18th century. It begins every June 24 and extends for a week favoring the enjoyment of dances and colorful parades of floats, comparsas and congas, musical groups of neighborhood that remember the festive rhythms of African root.

Another well-known tradition in Camagüey is the Week of Culture, which takes place in the first week of February to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Villa de Santa Maria del Puerto del Príncipe.
