The territory is distinguished by its low temperatures in the tropical winter of Cuba (December-March) that sometimes reach values lower than 10 ° C in the south plain and even smaller in the valley around Bainoa located about 100 m above sea level. In this town of Jaruco municipality has been registered the minimum temperature record in the country: 0.6 ° C in 1996.
