Holidays in Cienfuegos,Cuba

Tourist Information Offices offer information services about all the festivities and commemorations of the city of Cienfuegos and other cities of the country. From Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m, including holidays, these are located at street San Carlos (avenue 56) between 31 and 33, at the Viazul bus terminal, 49th street between 54 and 56 and in the last block of the boulevard (avenue 54) between 29 and 31.

Conmemorations

  •   Foundation of the Fernandina City of Jagua. (April 22) Bicentennial of the City (2019)

On the first day of January 1819 Lieutenant Colonel of Infantry Juan Luis Lorenzo De Clouet, proposed the foundation of the town, the Governor of the Island, Don José Cienfuegos and the Mayor Don Alejandro Ramírez, whose proposal was accepted and formalized on March 9 of 1819. On April 22, 1819, when the sun rose in the center of present-day Martí Park, Don Luis De Clouet, adorned with his badges and surrounded by neighbors who listened to him on his knees, took possession of the lands on behalf of of His Majesty the King of Spain.
