HELPFUL TIPS
The national currency in Cuba is the Cuban Peso (CUP). Purchases can also be made in other currencies (Canadian dollars, euros and other freely convertible currencies) through credit cards. If you decide to bring US dollars in cash, you can change them into CUP at CADECA (Exchange House) according to the exchange rate of the day. Those credit or debit cards issued by United States Banks or their subsidiaries are not accepted in Cuba, for this we have MLC prepaid cards, which can be purchased in Canadian dollars, British pounds, Mexican pesos, Swiss francs, Euros,American dollars and japanese yen.
In the airports there are Exchange Houses (CADECAS) open 24 hours a day.

 CUPs are not valid or exchangeable outside Cuban territory. When leaving the country you can change your remaining money to euros or dollars again. There is no fee for departure from the airport.

The cards to operate in Cuba are:Union Pay, Ocean Card, CABAL, MIR, VISA, MASTERCARD, American International Service (AIS), not issued by institutions or banks in the United States or offices of these institutions in other countries. Prepaid cards can be requested in MLC at the Banco de Crédito y Comercio (BANDEC) and Casas de Cambio S.A. (CADECA) and can be purchased in any currency.

Travelers who visit Cuba and have credit or debit cards that are not accepted in Cuban businesses, may request a prepaid card at MLC.

In Trinidad or Sancti Spíritus you can purchase them at CADECA offices (Change Houses):

CLASSIC CARDS

In Trinidad and Sancti Spíritus there are three types of banks: Banco Popular de Ahorro, Banco de Crédito y Comercio and Banco Finanaciero Internacional in all of them you can change the following currencies: Canadian dollar, pound sterling, Mexican peso, Swiss franc, euro, Danish krone, Norwegian Krone, Swedish Krona, Japanese Yen, Cuban Peso, and US Dollar.

There are tourist services that can only be paid once you are in Cuba by magnetic cards in freely convertible currencies such as: Car rental, purchase of Viazul bus tickets, hotels, among others.
