Literature of Granma


Granma is a province blessed within the world of literature. In this province Silvestre de Balboa wrote on 1603 “Espejo de Paciencia”, first literary work written in Cuba; also in this province was written the National Anthem, which was later musicalized. The writers of Granma have a great tradition, from Maria Luisa Milanés, known as Liana de Luz to more contemporary writers like Lucia Muñoz. For those who love literature, there are many bookstores and libraries in Granma, highlighting those located in Bayamo, such as the Public Library 1868 and Ateneo Library, places to which lovers of literature can go to enjoy a good book.
